Back in the day (like 5 years ago) dirt bikes were expensive. If you wanted to ride the track you could expect to spend $800... or more for a mini dirt bike.

But we live in the age of $20 dvd players and $300 computers.. and dirt bikes aren't far behind. Today you can pick up a mini dirt bike for around $200 and sometimes less. You might expect a $200 dirt bike to be used and beat up, stripped down model.

But that isn't the case today. For that $200 you can expect a brand new 54 pound bike with a 49cc air-cooled two stroke engine. It will have an automatic transmission, pull-cord start and front and rear disc brakes.

So ok, for a Honda or a Yamaha you would have to pay more. But for an intro bike they are worth checking out.
